Manhattan State of Mind, but not New York

October 1. A new month. 1586 miles from home - according to Leila. We were in Manhattan, KS, visiting my brother and his family. Perhaps you can see the family resemblance between my brother and me: genetics does work!

We got up after the grandkids got up and off to school, so we got to just sit and talk with Rik & Sandy and generally catch up: having an adult conversation without being interrupted. I think that parents often forget that there *are* such conversations.

Eventually got hungry, so Rik packed us up in the mini-van and we drove around Manhattan seeing the highs and lows (altitude, not judgements) - like this view of "the Dam thing" - from the "top of the world" (isn't Kansas beautiful?): and wound up having lunch at an *amazing* BarBeQue place: "Famous Dave's" WOW! Great food, great atmosphere (dumb jokes all over the walls and wait staff) and good prices. GREAT eating. Yeah. I know. I get waaaay too excited about food, but that's who I am.

More talk, including talking to the grandkids and kids. Everybody out for steak dinner, then watching TV, talking, and to bed. Good "catch up" time with my oldest brother.
